the faithful shepherd

my grandmother passed away a week ago. drove the mind-numbing, bone-jarring 24hr return journey to Sachibondu on the border of DR Congo, Angola and Zambia. it was an amazing celebration of her life. nearly 1,000 people from all over the country came to say goodbye. havent had a chance to edit those pictures yet but this one is of Chinjamba - her faithful shepherd who has tended the mission sheep since he was a teenager.

Dancing, dancing

'traditional' dancers put on a show for the President and dignitaries at the opening of a mine i recently covered. they were amazingly enthusiastic considering it must have been nearly 40 degrees in the shade...

hungry anyone?

From a recent shoot for Sun International's Royal Livingstone Hotel, a crème brûlée perfectly crafted by one of the happiest chefs I've ever met :) Tasted good too...

Edem Djokotoe - Investigative Journalist

One of Zambia's leading hard-hitting, investigative journalists, mr. edem djokotoe has a weekly column in the Post Newspaper. He recently published the book "Show me the Money" in collaboration with Transparency International, detailing how Zambia's governments since independence have "mis-placed" astounding sums of money. A pleasure to meet the man. This shot for the BIG Issue magazine.

The BIG Issue

I am working with the soon-to-be released Zambian edition of The BIG Issue - an exciting project which I believe could actually make some difference to the lives of the poor here. Look out for it on the streets of lsk in the next couple of weeks...

This is an out-take from the initial shoot - Samba, the Editor of the mag cracking up :) as usual...

t.j.

on her way to college in the U.S, she stopped by and assisted on a shoot. She got dragged in front of the camera before she left.

conscious - the album

an out-take from a shoot for the cover of his new album sleeve... he's been fighting long and hard to get his music out - one of many in lsk. keep an eye out for it. (in case you were wondering - the small dude in the pic isn't him!)

The River

I've decided to try and keep an updated blog on this site of some of my work as it happens. As I am only able to update my online portfolios every couple of months I hope this will act as some sort of interim measure for anyone who wants to see what I'm up to.

Just came back from the lower zambezi over the weekend. The picture below from the deck at Gwabi at sunset over a mosi.
